Grace had her 5-year old check up this week. Of course, as parents, we wanted to make sure that she passed all her tests - the hearing test and the vision test (she got Bruno's eyes - yipee!) and that she is healthy. She is in the 90th percentile for height and the 75th percentile for weight. Luckily we are blessed with a very healthy child!
The real test began when the doctor started asking Grace questions... and I started getting this odd feeling wondering what she would say and if she would get the answers "right."
"What do you usually have for breakfast?" And I'm sitting there thinking, "here we go... say 'fruit'... say 'fruit'" and she says "I always have waffles and syrup!" The doctor says "ok, but not too much syrup." Grace says "ok, but usually I dredge my waffles in syrup." (Of course I am always telling Grace to not "dredge" her waffles in syrup!) Then the dr. says, "ok, so what do you eat for lunch?" And Grace responds "well, on the weekends my mom makes mac and cheese or peanut butter and jelly." And of course the next question, "what do you have for dinner?" and Grace answers "I have chicken nuggets!" Of course I am then trying to tell the doctor that Grace loves all kinds of fruits and vegetables and really is a very healthy eater!
In fact, the other day I picked her up from school and I usually have gold fish in the car for her to have a little snack. I didn't have any so I found a chocolate-covered granola bar in my purse. I gave it to Grace and she took a couple of bites and put it down and said "can I just have some carrots and dip when we get home!"
